At Clayton Assembly of God, we are beginning a journey with God and with each other to see a great TRANSFORMATION in who and what we are! We will NEVER change our message, but we are going to change ourselves (for the better) and change our methods to more effectively share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those around us. Keep us in prayer, and if you live within driving distance of this church and feel prompted by the Holy Spirit to become a part of this family, we'd love to have. God bless you as you continue to grow in Him daily!\n

\nThis entry is short and to the point. I allowed myself to get to upset over something not all that important. I justified my feelings and thoughts by saying, "I'm defending my son because he was slighted!" Well, this is my public proclamation that I was not allowing God to work things out in HIS way. Yes, I should defend my sons when there is REALLY a good reason, but sports must not become so uppermost in my mind that I do things that bring dishonor to God.\n

\n

\nWhat things are you allowing to creep into a higher priority slot than they deserve? Take them to God right now, and put things in proper order and focus.\n

\nI was conversing (that's a fancy term for talking) with two other local pastors today. We were discussing the fact that on any given Sunday less than 20% of the local population is in church. That's not a very good percentage.\n

\n

\nThis of course led to the question, "What do we need to do to see this change?"
\n
\n

\n

\nThat's when I opened my big mouth and stepped on my own toes. "The answer," says I, "is not in programs, buildings, or the like. The answer is found in us spending the time in prayer and fasting that will be sufficient to wage battle against this dark cloud of spiritual oppression that hangs over this community, and has, from I've been told, for many, many years now." (Granted, I didn't speak quite this eloquent at the time, but as I sit here and write it, I can honetly say this is the message I wished to convey.)\n

\n

\nIt's true, you know. It's not programs, buildings, gimmicks, concerts, guests, or even eloquent sermonizing that breaks the bonds of satan upon our communities. It's good, old-fashioned, "irrelevant", politically incorrect prayer and fasting that wins spiritual battles. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take my sore toes and settle in for a little serious qualitative, quantitative prayer time. Won't you join me?\n

\nI'm sitting here missing my wife. She's 2 hours away doing clinicals for nursing school. I'm VERY thankful for modern technology. I've been "instant messaging" with her on Facebook, and last night was able to see her by webcam. Our sons think that is the greatest! Of course I've spoken with her by phone (PTL for cell phones!). I'm glad than no matter how far my wife or I must travel from home we can have instant communication with each other - it seems we're never out of reach.\n

\n

\nYet, as I marvel at man's ability to shrink the world through communication, I marvel even more at the "instant messaging" available between God and me! The Word declares to us His closeness, always right there, ready to communicate with us, no matter where we are, or WHO we are!\n

\n

\nWhy not make sure your "communication lines" are open today? Remember, He's as close as the mention of His Name.\n
