I know I've mentioned it already, but it is worth mentioning again...I'm glad to be back home!  Although I could have done without the bitter cold weather over the last week, it was good to be back in my own bed and worshiping with you, my church family.  Thank you for your love and welcome back. 

If you have been here the last couple of Sunday's you know that we have started a new series called "Fearless"; beginning with Fearlessly Entering 2010 and this past week asking the question "Why are you afraid?"  I think this is a timely series because there is so much going on in and around our world that it is very easy to fall into the trap of fear. Jesus tells us in John 14:1 to not let our hearts be troubled, trust in God and also trust in Him.  In Him we have not been given a Spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (1 Tim. 1:7). 

By all means I would love to have you join us on Sunday nights as we study our doctrinal statement as Southern Baptists, the Baptist Faith and Message.  My hope is for us to have a better understanding of who we are and what it means to be "baptist", but also to show how these doctrines really do apply to our lives.  It does matter what you believe because you are what you believe. 

And finally, last night was our monthly Deacon's meeting, and what a great body of deacons we have here at FBC Vinton.  It is an honor for me to serve along side these men who are called to be servant leaders in our church.  I consider them a blessing to me and my ministry here. 

I hope you have a great rest of the week, don't forget about our prayer meeting tomorrow night and the business meeting to follow; and men, please join us on Thursday night at 7:00pm for our prayer time also!
