We have reached the mid point of revival services at FBC Lewisville, and if you have not joined us...why not!?!?! The messages have been right on the mark, the music has been great and the Spirit of God is unmatched as He works in and through us during this time. If you haven't joined us for an evening yet, i hope you do before the week is over. As i've spent time with Eric and Gaye ... (continue reading)
I just now realized that it has been over 2 months since i last posted a blog, and so much has happened since that time. First of all, please continue to pray for the Smith and Alderson families with the loss of their loved ones. Mr. Curtis and Mr. Doyle have left a great legacy here at this church and God has used each of these men to make an impact on many, if not all of our lives. In the l... (continue reading)
Thank you first of all for everyone who has been praying for us and with us in relation to my Dad and his health. It has been a crazy few days but things seem to be looking up. First of all my Dad did have a stroke sometime between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon...that 24 hour window is a bit of an issue b/c we don't know how long he went without treatment. It was a clot on the ... (continue reading)
Well, it wasn't a white Christmas, but it was a very good one none the less at the Daniel Home. The warmer weather actually provided Regan an opportunity to give her new bike a spin, and for my inlaws to enjoy a bit of warmth they haven't had much of in Cincinnati as of late. Last night's Christmas Eve communion was a blessing to me, and i thank everyone who took time from their ... (continue reading)
We are only 2 days away from Christmas morning. Hopefully by now you are done with your shopping and have all your Christmas meals in order and ready to prepare...if not, good luck! One of the great things about the holidays is family. I've already had my dad pay us a visit and we are awaiting the arrival of Brigitte's parents tomorrow...and i have 2 very excited children who can'... (continue reading)
Our friends lost their house The co-worker lost her job The couple next door lost their retirement It seems that everyone is losing their footing This scares us. This bailout with billions. These rumblings of depression. These headlines: ominous, thunderous - “Going Broke!” “Going Down!” “Going Under!” “What's Next?” What is next? We’re... (continue reading)
Yesterday 32 pastors in 22 states preached a sermon that some have been holding on to for the last 54 years...and in preaching it they also personally endorsed a candidate for President; something that has been unthought of since Lyndon B. Johnson was President. This iniaitive was called "Pulpit Freedom Sunday" and it was the brain child of the Alliance Defense Fund. It was meant to defend a pa... (continue reading)
Please be in prayer for Maggie and David Johnson, they left last night to travel down to Florida to be with her daughter Dia and grandson Colin. The Johnson's son-in-law, Jack, passed away yesterday of a heart attack at the age of 48. They will be gone through this weekend as arrangements are made, and let Mrs. Maggie know that she does not have to be in a hurry to get back and her family i... (continue reading)
Today marks the 7th year since the horrific attack on our great country by Muslim extremists who are dead set on destroying us and our way of life. Driven by hate they flew 2 planes into the World Trade Center Twin Towers, one into the Pentagon and then a 4th plane was forced down into a field in PA, no doubt headed for another target of great importance. The heroism we saw on that day and in the... (continue reading)
Camp was great and i had a great time on vacation...but i am SOOOOO glad to be home! Last night sleeping in my own bed was a much needed. While on the road we were able to worship with Brigitte's parents at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Batavia, OH, but it wasn't home. You guys were missed and thank you for welcoming us back. It's hard to believe that today begins our 3rd year of... (continue reading)
Today was our Southwest Arkansas Baptist Association Executive Board meeting, held at Camp Canfield this month. It is always an honor for me to represent First Baptist at these meetings, and i think you will be encouraged about what God is doing in our neck of the woods. First of all, make sure you have August 9 marked on your calendar. We will be hosting an associational wide Sunday School ... (continue reading)
"Easier to tear down than to build up" This past Friday a group from First Baptist Lewisville returned to Life House Church in the College Hill community of Texarkana to help with their building. It is a church plant in a very needy community that is nearing its official launch date, but has already begun meeting on a regular basis. Our task on Friday was to clean out a few areas to prepar... What a great time of doing of local missions we have had so far this week! I'm so glad that God gave Brigitte the vision to reach out to our own community and association this year rather than traveling "away" for our mission trip. It has been a busy week, but a good week so far. Here is a quick recap: Monday a group of 13 traveled out to Texarkana to help Pastor James Ross at Life H... (continue reading)
We are at the halfway point of VBS 2008 - Outrigger Island, and what a week it has been so far! For those of you keeping score at home, here is what we have seen so far: Your pastor wearing a grass skirt Your deacon chairman playing an air eukalale A water fall and volcano appearing in our sanctuary 34 children learning how to Know the truth, Speak the truth and Live the truth And some o... We are already over the "hump" in our revival services with only tonight and tomorrow night remaining...unless the Holy Spirit says differently of course. We saw great crowds on Sunday morning and Sunday night (thanks to our friends at FBC Stamps), but not so much last night. Our local ball league began games last night, and that no doubt took away a good number of our children and their parent... (continue reading)
Father God, we come before Your throne to humble ourselves and pray, to seek Your face and turn from our wicked ways. We have sinned against You, O Lord. We have disobeyed Your clear commands, We have not loved You with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as we love ourselves. Forgive us, O God. Heal our land. Send a spirit of repentance. Let it sweep ac... (continue reading)
I just spoke to Bro. James Ross and he is excited about joining us next week and leading us in revival services. When i informed him that Buckner and North Lewisville held services last week, Stamps this week and Piney Grove along with us next week...it excited him knowing that God could be up to something in our community. I can't help but see God's hand at work here since all of this ... (continue reading)
Have We No Tears for Revival?by Leonard Ravenhill "They that sow in tears shall reap in joy." (Ps. 126:5). This is the divine edict. This is more than preaching with zeal. This is more than scholarly exposition. This is more than delivering sermons of exegetical exactitude and homiletical perfection. Such a man, whether preacher or pew dweller, is appalled at the shrinking authority of the Churc... (continue reading)
This is the day the Lord has made, let us truly rejoice and be glad in it! (Psalm 118:24). What a beautiful day it was outside today, and what a great day for us to enter into the worship arena so that we might worship the one true God in Spirit and truth. Sunday is the high light of my week when i get to experience worship with each and every one of you. Once again, my hats off to our yo... (continue reading)
I haven't watched the tv show "ER" in a very long time due to disagreeing with their extreme political tangents and the other wise godless nature of the program in general; but someone pointed out to the guys at Way of the Master about this great moment that was aired some time back. It shows the nature of man when faced with the reality of death and our greatest need at that time...and the ... (continue reading)
